This season, the team to beat all year has been the Austin Gamblers (19-9-0), who finished a win ahead of the Kansas City Outlaws (18-10-0). Those two teams will get a bye into the second round while six others ride head-to-head starting today to try and advance. The first round matches are set with fifth-seeded Arizona Ridge Riders (13-15-0) vs. sixth-seeded Carolina Cowboys (11-17-0), fourth-seeded Oklahoma Freedom (14-14-0) vs. seventh-seeded and defending champion Nashville Stampede (11-17-0) and third-seeded Texas Rattlers (16-12-0) vs. eighth-seeded Missouri Thunder (8-20-0).

All of the first round matches take place today, setting up the second round for Saturday and the championship, runner-up and consolation matches on Sunday.
The team series is built up of the best individual bull riders in the world, drafted onto teams where they competed all season head-to-head with the rest of the team series. The season paid off for Austin and Kansas City, who now just need to win two matches to take home the championship while the rest of the teams need to win three.
Last season, Nashville finished the regular season as the last placed team overall in the standings, but took care of business in the playoffs to win the first team series championship.
